For the 10th year, the SMPS Chesapeake collected toys, school supplies, and toiletries for over 150 children. These children are from the Police Athletic League (PAL). There are 15 PAL centers throughout the City of Baltimore. The children ranged in age from six to seventeen. Each year, a PAL Party is held at the ESPNZone where Santa comes to distribute the gifts donated by the SMPS. Some Baltimore Ravens players and cheerleaders came to sign autographs, take photos, and help Santa distribute the gifts. The SMPS is in charge of gathering all the gifts, the sorting and wrapping of the gifts, and distributing the gifts to all the children. The children selected to come to the PAL party were chosen by their PAL Officer based on academic achievement and behavioral improvements throughout the year. Seeing the children with huge smiles on their faces made all the hard work of the SMPS worth it! The SMPS is already looking forward to next year’s event!
